Vertigo Caused By Dislodged Ear Crystals? ~ Simple Exercise To Re-Set Calcium Crystals In Ear

Could a tiny crystal be causing your balance issues?

Vertigo caused by dislodged ear crystals could be the cause of your dizziness. After 6 weeks of experiencing the world spinning, my doctor informed me this past week that these little crystals are the cause of all my problems. He also gave me a simple step-by-step diagram to follow that has been shown to be 80% effective in resolving the issue.

You see, within our inner ear we have a pouch that holds approximately 1000 little crystals made of calcium carbonate.  These crystals play a large part in helping to keep our balance. Occasionally, due to a head injury or a virus, a few crystals will escape the ‘pouch’. The end result can be a moderate to severe case of vertigo.

As you know, I have been in a full-blown EBV flare for the last 6 weeks. It lowered my immune system enough to leave me vulnerable to a second virus, that lasted for 7 torturous gastroenteritis ‘days of hell’. Which is why there was no post on Wednesday. Sorry guys, I just couldn’t.

However, I am almost fully recovered, and ready to kick this vertigo to the door! Below is a diagram showing how to re-set the crystals in your ear. Dr. O told me he had a patient recently whose vertigo was so bad she was throwing up several times a day, and was unable to drive. Within a few days of  practicing these exercises, she was right as rain.*

Thank you for the illustration. I suffered from this several years ago and it was not fun. I have saved the ones you provided, in case it happens again.

I was diagnosed with this about 4 years ago. The doctor did the exercise with me a few times in his office. I would have to sleep in an almost upright position for 2 nights afterwards. Now I do the exercise myself when I need to. It does help.

I am definitely going to try this. I get vertigo when I am extremely tired and run down. It doesn’t last for long, if I get rest, but who knows, this could be a life changer! Hope you are feeling better, it really stinks to be so afflicted that your life is impacted! xx

Thank you for sharing this!! I have suffered from vertigo many times in my life but they have never lasted more than a day or two. I have always known that it had to do w/ the inner ear but didn’t know the specifics. This is really interesting. I am saving this post for the next time I need relief. Thanks again!

Can these crystals also cause tinnitus?

That’s a good question Lisa, I would ask your doctor the next time you see him. Come back and let me know what the answer was! 😉

I actually got tinnitus before vertigo. I do not think one necessarily causes the other; however, I think they might go hand in hand as they are both to do w/ the ears. I am realizing that a lot of things REALLY change once one turns fifty years old.
