Self-Care Sunday 2/26/2017

How did we ever survive without Netflix?

I mean really. Remember when movies could only be seen on a cable movie channel like HBO or Showtime?

Heck, I remember a time when VHS players had yet to be mass-produced, and in order to watch movies you had to rent the player for the weekend at the corner movie store! (I can’t even say how many times ‘D’ and I watched ‘Excalibur’… over & over again!!)

And who would have thought ‘Blockbuster’ would have eventually been driven out of business?

Yet, here we are with our beloved Netflix! The savior of ‘flare-ridden’ Spoonies everywhere!

That’s where I found myself often this past week: ‘The Isle Of Netflix’!

Although I was busy re-decorating the master bath (photos are coming soon), when I needed to take a break so that I would not overexert myself, I headed over to re-watch a favorite series of mine.

As you should know by now, I’m a SUCKER for a good ‘period piece’. If you are looking for something good to get into (and one that will end, plus has 4 seasons), then check out ‘The Tudors’ on Netflix. Here’s a little taste:

~

Oh my goodness! IT’S SOOOOO GOOOOD!!!!!

Remember to take plenty of breaks when doing anything physical. Just because we have a chronic illness or two doesn’t mean the world has to stop turning for us. It just means we have to modify the activity to meet our personal physical needs.

Self-Care Sunday Feature Of The Week

Claire ‘treated’ herself to a fancy new sling! Here is what she sent me:

“My own piece of self care this week involved the purchase of a very glamorous sling/shoulder, arm support after waking on Saturday morning with : 2 dislocated shoulders, locked elbow, dislocated wrist & dislocated ankle! I’ve attached a picture – I feel like the velcro queen!!”

~

Thank you Claire! Hope that gets better soon!!

What did your ‘self-care’ consist of this week? Remember, it can be anything that benefits you! Share with all of us here in the chronic community what works for you. It can be: a product you make & sell, an Etsy shop, a hobby, a relaxation technique, a trip you took, a recipe you’d like to share, ect.!

Send me an email: kristine@alifewellred.com, or share below in the comment section. Photos are most welcome, but definitely NOT necessary! I will include/promote what you send to me on next week’s ‘Self-Care’ Sunday post. Let’s all share the ♥ and help each other out!…(now that’s a little bit of self-care right there!)

Love “The Tudors”, but at the moment It is the “The Crown” that has my heart. I have an alarm on my phone to remind me to take breaks, because I tend to power thru and then end up in bed for days. I am my own worst enemy some times

Oh poor Claire! I do hope that things improve for her soon.

I do hope that Plains of Pinterest makes the introvert’s heart map soon…because it definitely should, you know.

I TOTALLY relate to Becky…my phone doesn’t have an alarm, but my kitchen range has a timer that forces me to stop what I am doing to rest a bit or else I will totally over do it. One of the perks of being an overachiever I guess.

I did my share of watching old I Love Lucy DVD’s the last four days, not because of an overdoing it flare, but mostly because of the air changing from winter to spring like cycles. Zaps my energy every year at this time.

All the kids were gone, we ordered take out and ate by candle light and ended it with a great movie. It was much needed! Thanks so much for sharing! Please join us again next week. ((Gentle Hugs))

I’ve been using a lot of Spoonie-made spa products lately. I really like the Calming Mud Mask from The Spoonique Boutique. I got a free sample, but after trying it once I was convinced I need to buy it forever and ever. It’s so great and the scent is really relaxing.

Thanks for a great post again Kristine! I love the Tudors….not sure if it is showing on anything at the the moment but The Borgias (with Jeremy Irons) is fantastic too.
And thank you to everyone here for your good wishes with my sling….I feel a bit like the velcro lady but it really stabilises things when I’m dislocated xxx
