‘Self-Care’ Sunday 2/12/2017

Ready for Cupid’s arrows?…

Ah, Valentine’s Day! People either LOVE it, or HATE it. I admit it, I’m a lover of the flowers, candy, and colors of the day! Such a romantic sap…Well, all I can say is, I hope you all get everything you desire Tuesday (within reason, of course!).

Well, keeping with the very ‘visual’ theme of this holiday, this post will be just that…VISUAL! Which ties nicely into my self-care activity this week, which was photography. I’m still only taking pictures with my phone camera, but I hope to purchase a decent DSL someday. Here are a few of my favourites from the week:

Self-Care Sunday Features

For this week’s ‘Self-Care Sunday Feature’, I have an excerpt from an email sent to me by ‘Lonnie’. She has a great routine that allows her to deal with the emotional stress of being chronically ill. {The following is re-printed with permission from writer}:

“I also have a rule I try to live by.  I allow myself 5 minutes a day for tears or self-pity, if needed.  After which I count my blessings and get on with my day such as it is. Those days when all my symptoms show up at once, I break that rule.  I also do try to keep away from people who are high maintenance or create drama wherever they go.”

Plus, Jean from ‘Delightful Repast’ indulges in soothing ‘tea breaks’ throughout the day. She is featuring a tea giveaway at her blog! Head on over and check it out!

A thousand ‘thanks’ to Lonnie & Jean!!

What did your ‘self-care’ consist of this week? Remember, it can be anything that benefits you! Share with all of us here in the chronic community what works for you. It can be: a product you make & sell, an Etsy shop, a hobby, a relaxation technique, a trip you took, a recipe you’d like to share, ect.!

Send me an email: kristine@alifewellred.com, or share below in the comment section. Photos are most welcome, but definitely NOT necessary! I will include/promote what you send to me on next week’s ‘Self-Care’ Sunday post. Let’s all share the ♥ and help each other out!…(now that’s a little bit of self-care right there!)

Kristine, I hope you had a great Valentine’s Day. I’m like you- I love the colors of Valentine’s Day, and the candy and flowers. I can’t resist.

My tip for getting through the day with chronic disease, I have to remind myself to breathe. Not to think about what could happen or what may have happened, I’m thinking about right now. And that helps me get through the day.

It is the most basic and important thing to stay only ‘in the moment’. But, isn’t it just SO stinking hard? Thanks Nikki, great advice ♥
