Saturday At The Bull Pen

“Beauty is in the eye…”

Living with chronic illness teaches you a valuable lesson:

  • Find the ‘positive’ wherever you are at!

It took 20 years before I began to see the allure of the desert.

As a child growing up in Northern California, visual beauty was everywhere; the mountains, the sea, the dark soil.

As an adult living in Arizona, I’m forced to dig a little deeper…

But it’s there…all around… I simply have to…look.

For Mother’s Day my brood (husband/2 grown sons/2 rockin’ daughter in-laws) took me 90 miles North to a spot near Camp Verde called the ‘Bull Pen’.

A series of watering holes nestled in the canyons East of the highway.

Dusty back roads, rocky paths, and narrow canyon walls hide magical spots of enchantment that teach the type of impacting lesson only Nature has truly mastered how to deliver:

“Though we travel the world over to find the beautiful,  we must carry it with us or we find it not.”

~Ralph Waldo Emerson

Thank you for this bright spot of encouragement for Arizona. When we move back here last summer, I held no love for the desert. I grew up in California too. But perspective is everything and there’s so many little nuggets of amazement in Arizona. Blessings to you and thank you again

Hi Christa! Thank you, and good to have you back 🙂 You are right though, the terrain is SO different from Ca., but it truly is all about perspective 😉
