3 Peace Impacting Mindsets Of Aging

Call me crazy.

Call me deluded…

‘I LOVE getting older!’

Yes, our society worships youth.

What is the saying?: ‘Youth is wasted on the young’

SO true!

Our society may worship the ‘fledglings’ who are feverishly trying to navigate the choppy waters of  their 20’s & 30’s, but ‘we’ are now blessed with the privilege of drifting along on slightly calmer waters.

Circumstances fluctuate and nothing stays static for long.

However, a right mindset can cultivate a ‘peace’ that was often fleeting in our younger strife-filled days.

3 Peace Impacting Mindsets Of Aging

  1. NOW is the time to pursue what you thought you’d NEVER achieve!:

Get that college degree! (with online options, it’s easier than ever to accomplish)

Pick up a new skill you never thought you’d never have the time to learn! (take a class, learn from a YouTube tutorial, seek out someone willing to teach, ect.)

Just don’t sit around bemoaning all you were not able to accomplish up to this point! If you still have a pulse, you still have time!

  2. Don’t really give a damn:

One of the greatest challenges I have faced in my life is caring too much about what other’s think. Guess what? People are usually so consumed with the contents of their own heads, that they barely give you a second thought. HALLELUJAH! There is immense freedom in this realization! Plus, how does it REALLY affect the important things in life if someone doesn’t like or agree with what you wear/read/pursue/enjoy? Time is precious, time is fleeting…stick with your convictions and thrive.

  3. Invest ‘free time’ in others:

Now that my kids are grown and gone, I have far more free time. This means that I can say ‘yes’ to more projects/favors/commissions than I was able to when having a ‘family’ to care for took priority. I recently filled a cupcake order (a business I abandoned years ago due to time and $ constraints). Since I now have the time to devote to endeavors like this, I was able to say ‘yes’.

Staying ‘productive’ is one of the KEY COMPONENTS to aging well!

The cupcakes are beautiful. So glad you were able to devote the time. I too just finished being in charge of our churches yard sale. It was a lot of work but it has brought great satisfaction in that I was able to do it. I now take care of my grandkids numerous times a week so that prevents me from doing all I want but they are small for only a short time. I find that if I stay fairly busy I don’t think about my health issues nearly as much. Thanks so much for your on target insight.

Thanks Kristine. I do need to focus more on the things I can do, and not the other way around. I love those cupcakes. They are so pretty. The people who got them must have been happy.
Thank You for your postings. Be Well, Valerie
